Kanye West Charged to Court For Fighting PhotoGrapher

The rapper was charged Friday with attempted grand theft and misdemeanor battery related to a scuffle he had on July 19 with a paparazzo, LA city attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said.

The incident was caught on video by TMZ and as seen in the footage West was seen walking past a bunch of photographers while staring intently at Ramos, who was trying to

engage him in conversation.

As West reached his car he lunged at Ramos with the photographer saying West threw him to the ground, causing serious injury to his hip.

Kanye was reported to has been keeping a low profile around L.A. since his girlfriend Kim Kardashian gave birth to their baby girl, North West, earlier this summer but was spotted out with Kardashian on that day to check out renovations to their new L.A. mansion

The volatile rapper got his court call the same day that Lamar Odom — husband to Khloe Kardashian — was charged with misdemeanor DUI stemming from his Aug. 31 arrest during a traffic stop, according to TMZ.

West’s arraignment has been set for Oct. 10, but he isn’t required to appear if he has an attorney, Mateljan told the Associated Press.

The charges stemmed from an alleged altercation with photographer Daniel Ramos at Los Angeles
Ramos claims West lunged at him and punched him, wrestling him to the ground.
The paparazzo hired high-profile attorney Gloria Allred and filed a lawsuit against West, alleging assault, battery and negligence, TMZ reported.

Los Angeles prosecutors declined to press felony charges against West, but city authorities decided to go after him for the misdemeanors.

If convicted on both counts, West could face up to a year in jail, or a $2,000 fine.
